Fair Shares – Building Connections – Welcome Groups
Helping young people with additional needs or disabilities develop networks in the local community.
Fair Shares is a community time bank where people can come together shares skills and knowledge and building friendships and social networks. Many disabled young people leave education and training without having established links in their local community.
Fair Shares is starting a new group in Gloucester to provide a safe place where young people with disabilities or neurodiversity aged 16-19 can meet, friendships can start, and new activity fostered.
The group will meet at The Friendship Café Painswick Road GL4 6PR once a month
Our aim is to develop a sense of positivity and sessions will include information around
- ‘What’s been new and good in my life in the past month?’
- Sharing of Needs, Wants and Offers
- Needs, Wants and Offers are explored to see who can help one another – and how any actions can be developed safely.
- ‘What’s been good about this meeting?’
- Food or snacks and drinks will be available
The groups may also include other members of the community who can offer advice and support.
Carers or family members are welcome to join the group along with their young person
Fair Shares is one of a wider partnership offering similar sessions, Creative Sustainability in Stroud and Forest Voluntary Action Forum (Forest of Dean).
